BeeXclude™ provides protection against Honeybee and Yellowjacket annoyance in such areas as public trash receptacles, picnic tables and similar outdoor sites where bees and similar "social insects" recruit others to sources of artificial sugar.

The Problem:
At a picnic table in a public park, each kid has his own can of soft drink.  Unfortunately, yesterdays picnickers deposited leftover popsicles and fruit punch in the trashcan.  Even though the trash can has been serviced, hundreds of honeybees congregate at the trashcan to forage for more sugar syrup. Others bees patrol the area for open cans of soda pop left unattended on the picnic tables.  Fearing that small children will return to the table for another sip of soda which may have a busy bee inside, the adults remove all soft drink cans and have the children only drink bottled water.

The Solution:
The public Park Authority equips all trashcans in the park with BeeXclude™ lids.  These open-top lids never restrict people from putting trash in its place.  Bees, however, do not recruit their nest-mates to the picnic area because the hive never recognizes the picnic area as a reliable source of artificial nectar.  Picnickers are free to enjoy their refreshments because the bees are looking elsewhere for their sugar needs.
